Day 4,377—Working on my Form—
I am not exactly sure when I first realized that my form needed major work, but I figured it was related to the issues I was having with my feet and legs. Now, I realize they’re related, but also the way I am running is making my injuries worse. I watched my finishing video on the marathon website last night, and it made me determined to start working on my form immediately. It isn’t stuff I didn't know before. My form used to be great when I was wearing almost exclusively minimalist shoes and running barefoot, running with the Vibrams, but that also caused a lot of foot pain, which made me buy more comfortable shoes. During this run, I tried not to think about my watch and instead focused on running quietly and landing with my big toe first. It is going to take patience to keep going slow and just focus on form, but I have no choice if I want to get healthy. It isn’t easy going slower than you think you can, but I have done it the wrong way for as long as I can. Not a full year, but for at least six months. I have to change course.
