Day 4,564—5 Runs until the Rim to River!—
I got up late and took a bath, which made me rush when I went for a run a couple of hours later. I didn’t feel like running, but I am getting more excited about the Rim to River. At the same time, I keep forgetting that it is happening, but starting tomorrow I am going to start packing, starting with reading the race guide, which I still haven’t done yet, but tomorrow I will go through the race packet. Tuesday, I will pack my drop bags; on Wednesday, I will get my race and camping stuff out and start putting it in my car. On Thursday night, I will finish packing because I plan to leave bright and early on Friday morning. It is a 10-hour drive, and I could theoretically split it up into two days, but I think I will be fine doing the whole drive on Friday morning.
Unlike all the special, different things about the Rabbit Run, like the Friday start time instead of Saturday, and the 1 p.m. start time instead of 6 in the morning. This race starts early Saturday morning, and I am camping where the race is supposed to start, so everything should be pretty easy, but I am getting a little stressed just thinking about it. I know I will feel better once I start running, but getting there isn’t easy, and I just haven’t felt like myself since I couldn't finish the Rabbit Run. I still need to work on the video, but I don’t want to think about that race. At the same time, I think it is important to normalize trying things even when they don’t work out the way you imagine, but it is easy to say that and much harder to practice. I would have struggled to stay on a sports team if I didn’t start, so I am both mad at myself for not doing better and mad at myself for letting it bother me so much.
