Day 4,557—The Symmetry of Training Runs —
I am attracted to patterns. Last weekend I ran two marathons. This weekend I ran two half marathons. During the week, I try to match similar distances to what I do on the weekends. I tried to run a solid half-marathon loop, and I got close. I have done runs like this before but usually going the other way. I went down Laclede and marveled at how good the run looks with all the changes. They need to paint it, and then it will be done. I thought they were going to redo more of the sidewalk, but they only replaced the worst sections. Everything else they left the same. They took out all curbs, so it would be a lot easier to take a wheelchair down, or bike, or use a hoverboard. I am so tempted to buy a hoverboard, but part of me thinks, why not take a bike, run, or walk? It just seems like a waste of time not to work your legs while you're outside. If I didn’t have a car, maybe I would use something like that, but wouldn’t a bike be just as good?
I took Laclede to Lockwood, and then all the way into Kirkwood. Webster looked nice in all the black and orange. I was thinking if there were always this many festivals every year. I saw that there is going to be a festival in Webster the weekend of the Rim to River. I saw a couple of runners in Kirkwood and then jumped on Grant’s trail. I did just over three miles on the trail, then headed back toward my house. I was glad to see I was pacing a little faster than yesterday, but I realized I'd be almost two miles short if I kept going toward home. I took some turns to add some distance and got a Slurpee on the way. The weather felt amazing. I wish it would stay like this for the rest of the year.
