Day 4,559—5 Minutes—
I have even less than that now after I messed with my watch because it wasn’t syncing with my phone. I still keep thinking about all this stuff that I have that I don’t need. I want to throw it away, but I also want to sell it, and then I would have to clean everything, which would take more time. Yesterday, I didn’t have much time for anything that wasn’t work or watching my kids. When I got home, I went on a walk with my son and played Mario Kart with him downstairs. He always wants to play Mario, which usually means he wants to watch me play a Mario game.
He was home with his mom during the day, so I took him to gymnastics with his sister at night. He loved being included even though he was upset that he didn’t get to play on the equipment. He still managed to make friends and have a good time. At first, he wanted to play on some of the equipment close to the bleachers where we were sitting. I told him no and was removing him from the area, but he was still struggling a little. The older woman who worked there asked if she could be the bad guy and didn’t wait for me to respond when she told him sternly that he wasn’t in a class and that’s why he couldn’t play on the equipment. She wasn’t trying to be mean, just be helpful, but I couldn’t help feeling some resentment that she thought she knew better than I did. Felix immediately collapsed in when a stranger was suddenly so mean to him. He was almost crying on my shoulder, but I got him back to normal in less than a minute, and then he was his smiling self again. It is weird because I kind of remember what it felt like to be his age and have a stranger talk sternly to me. It was always awful.
