Day 3,546 —One Year Ago, I started my run at 5:38 a.m., today I started at 5:39—

I was thinking about how everyone wants something from nothing and how making art is creating something out of nothing, and maybe that’s why it feels so necessary. Whenever I am writing or taking a picture, I am thinking about what I am creating and doing it justice because I am not writing for one person in particular. Kurt Vonnegut Jr. said he thought everyone did, his was his sister, but I am not like him, and that’s not why I write. Yesterday, I was feeling the enormity of my responsibilities and completely forgetting that everything I do is something I choose to do. And, I am looking forward to the race, today at work, and tonight doing toddler yoga with my daughter.
