Day 3,551 —Three more Runs until the Shippey 100—

I finally made the bold move of talking to my dad, who is going to crew for me, and Joel, who is going to pace part of the race. I had been putting it off, mainly because I don’t have a lot of answers yet, but I am getting there.

I want hot food for this race and hot drinks. Now, I want to add hot coffee to that list, but as long as my dad can heat something up quickly, I think I am going to be good. I might want him to heat up coconut water for me too, that kind of thing.

When Joel asked me when I was planning to finish, I told him to ask me on Saturday afternoon, but I know that’s not super realistic, so I will figure out my three goals after I do some more training and planning this week.

This morning, I started laying out all my warm-weather clothes, so I can get a rough idea of how many pairs of things I can plan to have there. Talking to my dad and Joel about it helped me start thinking about the race more and getting pumped. Sure, it’s going to be cold, scary, and possibly dangerous, but also a lot of fun.

I love that feeling when I don’t know exactly how it is going to work out, but I know it is, I am not saying I am not aware of the possibility of injury or other unknowns but I know I am going to do the work this week getting ready, and I am going to do the work over the weekend. I just hope I can get enough pictures and videos. I have a feeling this isn’t one I will be able to spend too much time taking my own pictures and vides, just thinking about hitting record on my phone or camera with all the gloves I plan to wear, but I still have time to think about it and practice this week with gloves.

I bought warm socks yesterday and today is the third day in a row where I haven’t had any coffee.
