Day 3,548 —the Sound of Downy Flakes! And only one week from the Shippey 100!—

Of course, the storm wanted to hold off until the weekend, yet it was still magical when I looked outside late last night and saw my yard smothered with fluffy white snow.

Running on the train tracks, I thought about why I don’t take more pictures of this area, and then I remembered. In one of my early photo classes, that was an incredibly trendy subject to focus on, and my teacher probably said something like, “Everyone seems to be attracted to taking pictures of the train tracks when they get started.”  That was probably all it took for me to avoid taking the boring cliché picture that I thought he was talking about but now I don’t know.

Maybe everyone takes pictures of train tracks because they’re interesting. I think they are especially engaging in the snow because the snow makes everything look clean and orderly. I am sure for generations, the sight of snow was mainly frightening and life-threatening but I don’t know. I am sure some people still were able to find beauty in winter weather and how it strongly contrasts with spring.
