Day 4,137—Barely Made it Through 12 in the Heat!—
Watch the Badger 100 race video and read the race report!

I was originally thinking I would go back to the trail today, but I woke up sore and itchy. I probably should have worn bug spray yesterday. I was miserable running today. I did chores first thing this morning, and I am still not sure if I will get them all done before it is time to go to bed. I don’t know how I am going to manage this week, but I am positive the days will go by fast. I still need to figure out when my class for school starts.
I walked up the hills and brought my water bottles. I filled up once at the water fountain inside Grant’s museum off the trail. I was both hungry and thirsty when I started heading towards home, and I saw all this new sidewalk being installed outside. That’s a positive change to consider! Wow, finally a new sidewalk on Watson! I have lived here all my life, and that is the first time I have seen them put any sidewalk in.
I stopped at 7-11 and got a Slurpee when I was a couple miles from home. It was both filling and refreshing, but it didn’t necessarily quench my thirst. When I got home, I realized my forehead hurt when I moved it. I must have gotten sunburned. I feel so thankful it was nice outside during the Badger. I feel a little guilty I am not doing Shawnee Hill this year, but that race is no joke. I could theoretically do the 100K without it destroying me, but maybe I should just stay home and try to do some more trail runs preparing for the OT in October.
Good luck to everyone who starts school tomorrow! Like me and my daughter. It will be her first day of 1st grade. It will be my first day working as a school counselor. I am positive a lot will go wrong, but that doesn’t mean that a lot won't go right either. The trick will be to be patient with myself, the staff, and the students. It is going to take a minute before this gets comfortable, and I need to work on being okay with doing a less than stellar job.
I am so tired I could take a nap now, but I still need to shave and make chocolate peanut butter.
