Day 4,145—Here we go again: week two starts today—
It was cold again, so cold I felt like it could have been fall as easily as it was summer. It would have been the best year to do Shawnee Hills, but that’s okay; sometimes the best isn’t the nicest weather, and I have had as many bad weather runs as good ones. This year I ended up with some of the best from the Pot 200 onward and it has been nothing but balmy mornings.
I went over to the trail again and ran a tiny amount of it. I loved it so much yesterday I thought I would try to do some today, but I couldn’t do that much until I realized I needed to go back home. I didn’t have a lot of time, and I was going slow, taking an unofficial day off. The 38-ish miles I did over the weekend shouldn’t have slowed me down so much, but I was still feeling sluggish, and I had a dozen more things to do when I got home.
I turned off the book I was listening to and saw the big house that I have attempted to take pictures of over the years. It must be the communal space in the neighborhood where all the houses look the same and someone else cuts their lawn. I love how they usually leave the lights on, so you can see in the windows early in the morning. There isn’t a lot to see, but it makes the whole house look like a model that you might find at the miniature museum.
