Day 4,147—the Perfect Loop Part II: Intimate yet Alone—

I rarely repeat the same loop as the day before, but today I did. I thought that if I went past my street and turned later, the distance would be almost exactly 5 miles. As I turned, I noticed sod had been laid, making the grass look lush compared to yesterday’s dry dirt. Despite some negatives, I appreciated that Starbucks planted trees and will hopefully maintain the grass.

It’s surprising how quickly they transformed the abandoned lot to a Starbucks. I took many photos, though not from the same angle, so comparisons of the photos won’t be as clear. I checked my watch—once in my driveway .09 over 5 miles. Not bad, but I’d prefer closer to 5.05. I have another idea to try this loop and see if I’ll hit closer to 5 tomorrow.

Maybe I’m obsessive with exact distances lately, since I usually run different routes every day. Recently, though, I just want to go somewhere near home, away from cars and people, and be alone.
