Day 2,527 —Getting Old— (with Goodbye Bug Store)

I watched that documentary the Last Blockbuster the other day. I was trying to explain going to Blockbuster to my wife. She grew up in a small town that never had one. I took two pictures today of places that used to be the Blockbusters that we went to growing up. It is not like the area around where I grew up is completely gone, but it is certainly not the same. All of the places I used to go to hang out as a kid are pretty much gone. The two bookstores that I used to go to on my bike are now gone. Also, the mall, the Best Buy, the Circuit City, the Hollywood Video, the Office Max that I worked at and I am sure a lot of other stuff too, but I cannot remember everything. Some of the spaces have become other types of stores while others have been abandoned, and many others more have been turned into vaping stores. Vaping stores are everywhere. Maybe I’ll take pictures of all the vape places one run. There must be a dozen with a few miles of my house.

Everything changes that’s for sure and in a lot of ways things are better now, but it seems like a lot of our old community spaces have disappeared. At least the library is still there, and we still have plenty of great parks. It was such a lovely day. Seeing all the families out made me want to come home, so I could go back out with my wife and daughter.
