Day 3,335 —Shelter from the Rain—
The rain makes it easier for me to feel far away from home. When I went into a covered trail, it felt like I could be hundreds of miles away in the middle of nowhere. I saw two deer stop and look at me, not wanting to run away and lose their secure spot away from the rain, but at the same time seeing me makes them want to bolt. I walked slowly and took pictures as I walked, and they ran about a dozen feet away and waited for me there. The next time I saw them, I didn't slow down, but I did wave.
It was nice that the rain kept most people off the streets. Still, some cars were moving much faster on local roads than they usually do, probably feeling confident that there weren’t many people out. It is never pleasant to start the run feeling cold and uncomfortable, but it doesn’t take long for me to stop noticing.
I think I might have broken my bike yesterday. The chain came off and the bottom part looked twisted. I was 13 miles away from home, close to Reavis Barracks. I got my bike working again, but It scared me.
