Day 3,890 —Until My Friends Come Home for Christmas*RWWV—

I think I might break down and buy another weighted vest the 10 pound one I have is working fine, and today I strapped on my regular running vest over the weighted vest and filled it with 8 packages of soup, which should have at least added 8 pounds that I carried, and I was thinking how difficult it was to carry that added weight, but I decided it was good. I felt like I was really training and even though I only ran 8 miles (12.87 km) today it didn’t feel wasted.

This morning, I woke up late after staying up late playing a video game, but I decided last week that we would go see Santa Claus at the Oakland House. It has been 5 years in the work, but we finally made it happen today.

5 years ago, I discovered the historic Oakland House that is in the heart of Shrewsbury. It is a gorgeous estate with two beautiful swans in the pond in the backyard, but I have never been in the house. My wife told me that in December they have Santa Claus arrive at the house in a firetruck, afterwards there is a puppet show, and you get to meet Santa Claus.

It was raining this morning and there were so many reasons not to go, but it was on the calendar so we were determined to make it, I ran before we left, but I only ran two miles because that was all the time allowed.

When I made it home I made lunch so it took a hot minute before I went out again and went to the store and bought tofu, and a bunch of plastic balls for my son.

I bought some other things and brought them home. I was wearing my weighted vest under my raincoat. When I went back out, I added my regular running vest with 8 pounds (3.63 kilogram). It did feel like a huge difference, but I was going at mostly the same pace I was before. I didn’t do as much as I had wanted, but it felt like a workout, so I am sated. Joel told me this week that he is doing a 34-mile birthday run this evening, which sounds insane, mainly because I did something similar last weekend, and it was tougher than I anticipated.
