Day 3,985 —Broccoli, Hummus and video Update!—

It was so nice today! It finally wasn’t as windy. There were still tree branches scattered everywhere. I think it is strange so many branches didn’t move farther from the trees they fell from.

I was sluggish this morning. I got up at 5, but went back to bed and didn’t start this run until hours later than usual. I have been thinking more and more about the 200-mile race and different things I need to prepare for it. I need to make sure the ground is clean inside. I need to make sure I have enough clothes to change into. This one was 24 hours; with 200 miles, it will be twice as long as that. My battery stuff wasn’t close to dyeing, so as long as I charge stuff when I go to sleep, I should be fine. I wonder how difficult it will be to sleep. I don’t know what the weather is going to be like, so I don’t know if I will want to nap during the day or if sticking to nighttime makes the most sense.

The first day, I will plan to just do at least 4 laps and go to sleep at a decent time. I could stay up later if I feel like it, but the next day I will want to do between 60 and 70. I will plan to take a couple-hour break in the afternoon and then the same thing on Saturday. I go to sleep Saturday night and wake up and do what’s left. My main goal is to not give up, so I am going to try to run the whole time. I am not going for any records for 200 miles. I just want to finish, so I think the hardest part is going to pace myself. I believe in doing what your body feels like, but at the same time, the chance of overexerting myself is real. I will keep going if I feel okay, but maybe no caffeine at night is something I should decide now to implement, just to encourage me to go to sleep each night. I should have time for at least 4 hours each night and still finish before the cut-off. Even if I do a little more than that, I think I can be okay. I think I have a much better chance of going too slow and having to make up time compared to going too fast and struggling to see how I could rally.

I am going to bring broccoli and hummus. I might need more clothes?! I should try to not carry a lot and take longer breaks instead.

I was slightly more motivated to edit the video last night and this morning! I got the total time down under 8 minutes! It should be posted by the end of the week at the latest.
