Day 2,644 —SHOES! — with a PICTURE of a SHOE

My daughter is two today. She loves shoes, and it is one the words she can say. She will hold up her shoes to me and say, “shoes! Shoes!” This means she wants me to put them on for her. Sometimes she holds up my shoes or my wife’s shoes and wants me to help her try those on too.

I got her a pair of shoes for her birthday. They are Puma Tigers, which is a brand I like, so I bought a matching pair although they are different colors. She tried them on this morning and seemed to like them.

During my run today I thought about my run two years ago when my daughter was born. At that time, she had just arrived, and I was happier than I ever thought I could be. I was beyond happy. I was elated. I couldn’t wait to get back to the hospital and spend the whole day staring at her.
