Day 2,653 —Running in the Rain—today with a PICTURE of WINDOWS at NIGHT
I know I ran during another thunderstorm relatively recently, but it wasn’t nearly this intense. The thunder shook the ground and the lightning struck so fast I only saw it through the corners of my eyes, never catching the sight of it directly. It didn’t seem that close. I was mostly surrounded by houses and buildings, so I didn’t have a lot of visibility.
When I looked down Laclede Station Rd, I could see all the water hitting the ground hundreds of feet in front of me. I stared at all the little streams of water on the roads and on the sidewalk. I loved seeing all the plants bending down with the weight of the water. They looked like they were hunkering down as if they were also attempting to make themselves a little smaller to protect themselves from the storm.
I took so many pictures in my mind, but my camera was obscured with water droplets, and I didn’t have anything to clean it, which was messing up the focus, so I had to resort to focusing manually. I have a hard time gauging focus when rain is hitting my face a dozen times every second.
Despite the rain, a lot of other runners out anyway. I loved that I wasn’t the only one that enjoyed this magical day of running in the rain. I hope no one gets struck by lightning.
