Day 2,658 — These Vines Kill Trees— with a picture of a BASEBALL FIELD
Yesterday, I sat and worked out my training schedule for my first 100-mile race in November. I am using Bryon Powell’s book Relentless Forward Progress as a guide. I have never followed any running guide exactly, but I always try to follow the trajectory and do at least the suggested miles each week. His plan advises doing one really long day and three long days each week. He follows the guidelines of Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday being the days that one would put most of the miles in. However, I will do most of my miles in two days and try to spread out my weekly miles to the best of those guidelines doing more miles on Tuesday and Thursday and fewer miles on Mondays and Fridays as being my pseudo rest days.
I feel good about it. I think I have a good foundation to build on, and I am glad I took some time off over the summer. I feel stronger now both mentally and physically. I am going back into training revitalized thinking about these training runs with anticipation.
It has been a good summer: I start training tomorrow
