Day 2,659 — a Dozen Different Loops—with a PICTURE of a RED WHEELBARROW

I wanted to do around eighteen miles, but I hadn’t come up with any routes, and I didn’t end up feeling like going that far from my house. I decided to stay on the local streets.

This made it easy for me to stop and drink water at home and not have to worry about carrying any for a change. It was also nice to check on my wife and daughter and see what they were up to. Sometimes I spontaneously worry about them when I am away for a long run. A lot can happen in four hours.

It was cool and wet and rained periodically throughout the day. I changed shoes three times and kept a light pace. I feel some pain now hours later writing this but hardly any during my run.

When I finished, I went for a walk with my daughter for an hour. She had been in the house, so I wanted to get her outside. Whenever she would see a long flat stretch in front of us, she would look at me and smile and then take off. I must run to keep up with her now. She expresses such joy when she runs. Each step she takes resonates with freedom and purpose. I want to run like that.
