Day 3,466—Five-years ago—

I was getting out of my car, about to walk to work when someone grabbed my bag from behind, I looked back, and he was holding a gun. He had a friend 10 feet behind me watching on.

Crazy, now I mark this day as the beginning of a reset that I am still benefiting from. At the time, I was out of shape, eating fast food, needing direction, and feeling like I didn’t know myself anymore.

Within a year, I started eating plant-based foods and my wife and I had our first child. The year after that, I averaged over 10 miles of running a day and ran my first training 100K in under 12 hours. In 2021, I ran my first 50 and first 100-mile race. In 2022, I won two timed events and ran the 100-mile distances three times.

This year, my wife and I had our second child. I also ran a 100-mile trail in under 24 hours and won the Minnie Ha Ha, beating my record from last year.
