Day 3,800 —Along the River and through the County—

I am going to the Green Tree Festival today, but I wanted to get a long run in, so I found myself up at 3. I figured why not start at 5? This is a variation of one of my favorite loops. I went through two different cemeteries on my way to the Riverway Trail. I saw some deer sleeping and a few walking briskly, enjoying the morning.

Not much sunshine on the trail, but it was pretty as it was getting closer to the sunrise. I could see the white clouds against the blue sky and the big dipper so prominently.

When I made it to the unofficial start of Grant’s trail a little after 6, I started to see more people out on the trail. There was a guy who was about to start, and I figured he would pass me, but I never saw him again.

I saw a tabby cat, not much bigger than a kitten. When I walked closer, it ran into the tall grass, and I saw the kitten who was hiding behind her. I gave myself to the end of the trail before I was going to allow myself to slow down. I figured I needed to be home before 8, so it was going to be tough to get the miles done I wanted.

I was happy to see almost 3k people have watched my last video. Maybe, I have figured out a good system, but now I feel pressure for my next video, but that is okay. Making the videos is a welcomed distraction during the races, not always, but I think it is helpful.

I have been listening to the book the Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood, and it is scary! I know she is not known as a horror writer, but her dystopian novels freak me out. She creates realistic horrible people in strange but familiar worlds.
