Day 4,098—Shopping with a 55L Bag!—

I also took a walk with my two kids this morning and went running to the grocery store with my new waterproof bag. The guy in front of me in the checkout line asked if everything was okay. I realize now he probably asked because, with my bag plus my unshaven face, I probably looked homeless. It is not like a lot of other people are doing grocery shopping and carrying stuff to get a workout in.

I carried 24 units of carbonated drinks, one liter of coconut water, bananas, and a jar of pickles. I didn’t weigh it, but it had to be at least 40 pounds altogether. It was okay until something shifted and was stabbing my back, but I felt it was overwhelmingly a success. I started with something I knew would be the most difficult to carry, and I made it home in one piece! When I got home, I realized one of the carbonated drinks had opened and spilled some in the bottom of my bag. I think it was the pressure from me running and the carbonation building up, but I don’t know for sure.

I have been determined to be productive this week, but I feel overwhelmed; however, it is nice to get a jump start on things. I am working on my application for Field Placement II for counseling, which seems silly because I will be working full-time as a counselor during that semester. Yet, I am still required to get my background check, including fingerprints, again, and my TB test. It is a lot of money I could spend on other things, and I figured out yesterday I am mainly unmotivated because it serves no practical purpose. Yet, I am making progress but do the people who make the rules know how unnecessary this requirement is? Especially when these task take money and time away from my two small children for?

I took the practice test of the Praxis for counseling this morning before I went running. It wasn’t the easiest test, so I am glad I did the practice version. I wish they were more transparent about the scoring of the test, so I had an idea of how I did on the practice version, but I learned a lot, and I am forming a plan to practice before I take the test on the 19th.
