Day 4,102—A Quick 10 with my Vest—
I finally felt normal running with the weighted vest today. I had to get my TB test today, so I had a hard stop at 8:30, so I was pushing it to get 10 miles in. I decided this loop I did today is one of my favorites. I get to run through downtown Webster, but it isn’t an easy loop with all the hills. I stopped by the gas station in old Webster for a Powerade. The guy there has seen me enough times that he has a running joke with me. He asks me how many miles I have done so far, and when I tell him. He says, “You might as well go to Chicago.”
I always laugh with him. I am not sure if I think it is that funny of a joke, but I like being asked how many miles I have done, and he is a nice guy. I see him making small talk with everyone who goes in there. When I first went there, the Powerade was typically not working right in the fountain drinks, but it has every time I have gone recently. I secretly wonder if it is because he has seen me come in to use it. I am not a huge Powerade fan, but it is the one drink that I can count on finding in a fountain drink size, so I have been drinking it more and more recently.
I don’t know if I will go back out or not, but I am happy to get these 10 miles in. It wasn’t easy this week, and even though I didn’t run a lot, I worked hard every day I went out. I don’t know what next week is going to look like. I signed up to take a test on Saturday morning, so it is going to be a lot harder to get a decent number of miles in on Saturday, but Sunday should be relatively normal.
