Day 4,106—Far Away—
I have been running in my sandals with my weighted vest every day this week. All my shoes are falling apart, but it isn’t just that; it is also my desire to run softer, my feet have been taking a beating recently, and I want to mix things up. I ran down Elm and past where I had recently seen the chicken sign. It wasn’t there, so maybe someone claimed the lost chicken.
I gave the Kneecap album a break today and listened to GNX for a while until I decided to play some Hamilton soundtrack near the end of this run. I know plenty of people who pride themselves on how they don’t listen to anything when they run, which I think is cool, and I have done a lot of miles without listening to anything. I usually wait until almost halfway into an ultra-race before I play music. My thing is that you've got to mix up your workout to keep it interesting, so I don't ever follow the same routine from season to season.
Part of me thinks I should consider buying new shoes before this next 100-mile race, and it is coming up quickly. Only two weeks from this Saturday, but it still seems so far away.
