Day 3,775 —3 runs until Shawnee Hill 100: First Day of Kindergarten—

I had been counting down the moments until I saw her sitting in a row of other kids. When she saw me, I heard her say, “Daddy!” and “That’s my daddy!” I got out of my car and put her in the car seat.

          “How was your first day?”

          “So fun!”

“Did you get to read stories or play?”

“Yeah. I want to go back to school now.”

“That’s great! That makes me so happy to hear. Did anything else happen?”

“Teacher said that I couldn’t have my vegan candy until I ate all my snacks.”

“That’s okay. I don’t let you eat your treats either until you eat your regular food.”

          “Oh.”

She didn’t give me a lot of details, but it was clear that she loved school and couldn’t wait to go back. Later that night, she told me she hoped she could go to school today. And, I was like “good news” more school tomorrow!

There was also a Blue Super Moon this morning and I did go to bed a little earlier last night, but my daughter’s first day took priority.
