Day 4,414—Last Day with Students! 8 More Runs until the Mohican 100!—
Start time: 4:42 a.m.
Weather: Mid 50s, wind 4.5 mi/h, Humidity 77%
Colder than yesterday, but I felt pretty good today. I didn’t need to run a lot. I went to bed almost on time last night, and I prepped my morning coffee, so I didn’t have to do as much to make it this morning. I finished three books I was listening to and one book I was reading yesterday, and this morning, so I have been thinking about what I want to read next. I want to start reading a graphic novel series that I might truly enjoy. I have a few recommendations, but I would rather jump into something completely different.
I keep forgetting that this is the last week of school!!! How crazy is that!!! I made it through another year in SLPS and my first year as a school counselor! I know people aren’t lining up around the block to shake my hand and congratulate me, but I feel pretty good about it. I made a lot of mistakes, and there is a lot to learn, but I also know I made a pretty big positive impact on dozens of kids' lives, so that feels good. I was mostly staying in my office yesterday, planning for next year, but whenever I left, kids came up to me and asked me to sign their shirts.
Next week is the Mohican, and I am starting to get really pumped for the race. I am trying to figure out the drop bag situation and the type of area I can set up at the start/finish line. It is a big race, so it will be different from many of the other 100-mile races I have done. I think there are at least a couple of hundred people doing the 100-mile, but I would have to double-check to be sure. I have recently been more focused on prepping for the Vero Beach race in Florida, and I am feeling better about it. I bought some additional water containers, and I will have all of June to test out a few different systems to make sure I am comfortable with one before July.
My goal for this picture today was to take one of the little bird you barely see but it was just hanging out chatting happily with her friend when I saw them originally but she kept flying away, so I didn’t get much of a shot but I loved the little candid moment they were having, chirping away in the middle of the street originally before they flew over to the railing—how precious.
