Day 4,420—New Shoes: 2 More Runs until the Mohican 100!—
Start time: 5:39 a.m.
Weather: High 60s, wind 2.9 mi/h, Humidity 93%
The caffeine fog has finally lifted! This is the first morning in a while that I can remember waking up on my own before my alarm went off. It was 4:44, which made me wonder how frequently I have gotten up at this time in the past. My goal was to get up at 5 this morning, so I figured, why not? I stayed up later than I meant to last night, but I felt well rested this morning. I remember having bad dreams. I mainly remember missing the Mohican 100! I am not sure what the circumstances were to make me miss the race, but something happened that was unavoidable, and I remember being upset that I missed it.
I bought the new version of the HOKA Speed Goats a couple of weeks ago, and I wore them during my run today. I wanted to replace them with shoestrings that are easier to put on, and I put my gators on them. I loved the gators at the Berryman once I figured out how to secure them to my shoes. They made a big difference. I don’t love that they have to have something that goes under your shoe, but otherwise, they’re perfect. The shoes felt good, but they were a little tight. It is rare for 11 ½ to get tight on my feet, but on my right foot, I felt a little tightness, which is not ideal. I will plan to wear them more and see if it still feels that way.
I went to three stores yesterday and started packing! So I am already ahead of schedule! My goal is to be almost completely packed tonight so I can focus on putting stuff in my car tomorrow. I don’t know why I am getting sad and/or nostalgic about everything. It has been an incredibly tough year, and I have made it out the other side, so I should be happy now, enjoying my break and looking forward to my trip.
