Day 4,427—Almost Normal!—
Start time: 7:30 a.m.
Weather: High 50s, wind 2.2 mi/h, Humidity 85%
I didn’t have much time because I have a day planned with my daughter, but I was able to run three miles during the sunshine and rush hour. I was thinking my left foot is doing better, but this shin pain keeps coming back whenever I start running. I meant to stretch last night, but I was too tired when I remembered, so I went to bed. I put away most of my stuff from the run and did laundry. I am thinking right now that I will not have a very long day this weekend. I would like to do some training for the Vero Beach 100. It won’t be anything intense, but I need to do some serious heat training, spending hours outside every day running and walking in the sun. I don’t care how fast I go as much as I get better accustomed to the heat. The Vero Beach will have some positive, but I need to prepare for the heat, as I have never experienced it before.
Something unique to the Mohican 100 was that I didn’t change my clothes the entire run! This is the only 100-mile run I haven’t changed clothes, and I don’t know exactly why I didn’t except I didn’t want to waste the time and I felt okay. When it got dark, I was worried about getting cold if I stayed anywhere too long, so after I refueled, I was out of there. This strategy worked for the most part, but I did deal with some skin rashes. I don’t know whether this was because I didn't change or if it was just a contributing factor, but it definitely didn’t help.
