Day 4,434—Running in the Sunlight—
Start time: 6:27 a.m.
Weather: Mid 70s, wind 6.3 mi/h, Humidity 87%
I am not getting up insanely early this summer, but I am getting up early enough to run when the sun is first shining. Part of me wants to push my start time a little, maybe run closer to sunrise, but I am enjoying seeing people in their routines. I saw the couple waiting at the bus stop this morning, but then I had to go to the bathroom. I knew there might be a couple close by, but when I finally made it to one, it was locked! So, I mostly walked to the other bathroom.
I looked at my watch, realizing I needed to go home as soon as possible if I was going to make it back in time to see my daughter off on the bus. Her bus arrived around 7:15, and I was rounding the corner at 7:14. My daughter yelled with excitement when she saw me, and my wife was holding our son. I finished my run afterward and walked to Starbucks with my son before taking him to daycare. It was so enjoyable to just sit there with him at the coffee shop. At three, he is having more and more opinions and commenting on things he notices. Right now, he has started noticing the differences between the versions of Batman, so I asked him which he likes better: blue or black Batman. He looked at me and said, “I don’t know,” which, at times, feels like his default response to my questions.
I continue to make progress on the video and write-up! I have no good excuses for why it is taking so long, but the write-up is almost done, and I made a lot of progress on the video, then recorded the podcast I mentioned yesterday. I felt like I talked way too much! Barely waiting for questions to be asked. I imagine my conversation was difficult to follow, but it was my first time doing something like that, and I felt intimidated. I have my running journey, but so many people have their own stories. I feel foolish thinking my story has special value, but I remind myself that is how most people feel. That’s not a reason not to share what is important to you with others. I believe that is true, but it is harder some days than others in practice.
