Day 4,453—Last Monday of June—
Start time: 8:30 a.m.
Weather: Low 80s, wind 7.4 mi/h, Humidity 82%
I always struggle once July rolls around because I must accept that summer is almost over and that it won’t be long before everything changes and I will be driving into work. This is my daughter’s last week of summer school, and she has so much fun this year. She doesn’t want it to end, even though after her first day, when she came home, she said that it didn’t go well and she had cried a few times. The next time she said she only cried twice, and from that point on we were worried maybe things weren’t going as well, but when we offered to let her stay home one day so we could leave for a trip early, she said no because she didn’t want to miss craft time at the end of the day.
I had planned to try to wear my vest most of the week, but there was no way I was putting it on today for this run. My entire body was sore and tired, probably from carrying all that water around over the weekend. I think that’s good; I am getting used to it, and I plan to run with it more, but today I just needed a break. I would have left earlier, but I have been spending my morning playing with my kids. Today Felix wanted me to help him set up his new slot car racing set. It took a while, but it was worth it for how happy he was watching Bam and Red Robin fly across the track.
Once I started, I was already sweating. I wonder now how it could only be in the 80s because it felt miserable. I convinced myself I only needed to run for an hour today, and once I reached 30 minutes, I paused to take these pictures of the mushrooms. I have been seeing so many mushrooms recently. I keep trying to take a good picture of them, but nothing ever looks right.
