Day 4,449—Feeling Better/ Feeling Worse—

Start time: 7:45 a.m.
Weather: Low 70s, wind 5.6 mi/h, Humidity 91%
The humidity felt brutal today when I stepped out; it felt like my body was already starting to sweat. I noticed how most of the pain I was experiencing right after the Mohican 100 is gone! All that pain centered around the top of the left shin is now nonexistent. I am not completely pain-free, but none of it is as acute as it was recently. I just realized that in two weeks, I will be driving to Florida! And I haven’t even booked my campsite for Thursday night yet. I also have to decide what I will do on Sunday night, but I don’t have to make that decision today.

I am starting to get excited about that race, the adventure. I need to start training with the hydration stuff I plan to use to make it through those huge stretches without aid for the Vero Beach. 20 Miles is a lot, but I do a lot without stopping on a regular basis when I know I will be home and done running afterward. This one is going to take a lot of patience, not to push myself during the day on Saturday, to stay hydrated, to take frequent breaks, and to walk when I need to. It is most likely not going to be a pretty finish, but I want to finish, and this might be my best chance.
