Day 2,682 —Walk Don’t Run— with my PICTURE of a STREAM going INTO a RIVER

My biggest challenge with running past the sixty-mile mark is my unwillingness to walk.

I knew this was an issue seeing how more experienced ultra-guys can walk more efficiently and use walking to support them mentally and physically in a way I have not tapped into yet. By the time I had to walk in the Katy 82 it was too late. Walking felt just as hard as running for those last two miles.

I was better during the Mohican but knowingly wasting a lot of time in slow walking and having to make up for it with less efficient running.

Today I did two and a half miles at low effort running, and then I walked a half a mile, and then I ran a half a mile. I did this for the next three miles. Part of me feels like I should change the classification of this run to run / walk, but I don’t think that is an option. Run / walk is a better description of ultra-running for guys like me anyway.

I want to continue to incorporate this approach more often, so I can truly master a forever pace.
