Day 4,243—Hello December—

I expected a hard time getting up at 4 and dressing warmly enough to run, but so far, it’s gone well. I realized I didn’t need to run as much as some Mondays and dressed in warm layers, though not my warmest clothes. I keep looking at new gear to stay warm outside. I might or might not camp in the cold this season, but the idea excites me. I don’t have an outdoor heater and probably need more cold-weather gear, but so much of it is mental.

It was a fun way to prepare myself for the worst this morning, and to be met with a surprise that it wasn’t worse. I took a picture of this tree with lights because I was so impressed with how they got their lights to the top of that 50-foot tree. I wondered if they used a ladder. When I turned onto the trail, the gate was open. I wasn’t planning on taking a picture, but I cannot remember the last time I saw this gate open. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. And I am starting to think it would be fun to run all night starting on Thursday night, so that way I would have two days to recover, and I want to run on a trail at night, I think. Happy Monday, everyone! We might all be back to work and school, but there are only so many days left in the year, so we might as well make the most of it.
