Day 4,267—Happy 25th!—

It is somehow the end of the year, and yet we still have almost another week. My daughter was up a little after 4 when I was awake to feed the cats. I didn’t want to get up, but I figured I would get my run in while my wife and son slept. My daughter was so excited to open presents. She asked me if she could sort them, and I said that was fine. Then, I took her downstairs to watch Super Kitties while I went for a run a little, after we had muffins together. I couldn’t believe it was still dark after 7 a.m. It was as if we were in a cloud of fog so thick that it was difficult to see, and I hadn’t brought my headlamp.

I ran by the dog bath place and took pictures of their current window display. I tried to remember what they had last year. Do they always do something different every year, or is it the same? I was thinking a lot about how odd the weather is.

I am more curious about the Styrd now. I don’t know what data it will provide that will be particularly helpful, but I have always thought that a foot pod gives you better metrics when it comes to power and strides per mile. Regardless, it is a great present I got from my siblings for my birthday this year. I don’t know if this was the best holiday ever, but my two kids had fun, and I think my wife liked some of the things I got her, so I would say this was a success. I also got some things that I like, and we ate mashed potatoes with vegan gravy that I bought from the store this week. It tasted like cheap gravy, which, for whatever reason, felt like the holiday.

I put together their toys. Including a Hot Wheels track that involved the car going through the mouth of a triceratops, and I played the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie. It was like pulling teeth getting my daughter to try it, but they all ended up enjoying it.

I felt bad for my daughter because she seemed to run out of presents sooner than everyone else, and the electronic tic-tac-toe thing I got her didn’t work the way she wanted it to. She could never be X’s when she did the solo version, and it changed the end of the game, so you couldn’t stalemate. However, she loved playing with her brother's toys, including a puzzle mat that was Batwheels themed, which my son loved until he ripped it apart violently. Later, my daughter started making a house out of it. It was the gift that kept on giving. I will most likely need to buy another one.
