Day 4,251—Pictures in the Dark—
I turn my headlamp sideways so the picture isn’t dominated by my headlamp going straight on in the direction that my camera is facing, but that doesn’t always work. The picture turned out a little blurry, a little underexposed, making it look dreary. Colors always look off in the dark because everything is usually black and white. The forecast was for warmer weather today, but it didn’t feel that different once I was on the sidewalk running towards the Starbucks. The temptation at this time of year is to count down the minutes until break, but this year I am going to try to enjoy the days leading up to it. The anticipation, in many ways, is better than the result, as my watch reminded me yesterday when it told me at work that I had an incredibly restful day. I keep going back and forth about the run on Saturday, but right now I am leaning towards doing it rather than another run from home.
I started looking at next year's runs, and I don’t want to go crazy and set a more ambitious calendar than this year, but I would like to do at least 4 in at least 2 new states. The only problem is that all the ones closer to home seem so much more doable. There is a new one I read about on Sunday called the American Bottoms 110 that I would sign up for now because it has so much going for it, but the only negative is that it is another race in Illinois, but it is 55 miles by the Mississippi River, so I have to do it one year, if not in 2026.
