Day 4,258—At least 5 Miles a Day: Second Day of Hanukkah—
I have about 75 miles to go now, which means 5 miles a day on average for the next 15 days, which makes up the end of the year. Wow! I cannot believe there are only 15 days left of the year. It always feels like by the point the year is over, there is always still so much left that’s not done. I felt like I was ahead of my running goal all year, and now that it is close to the end of the year, I feel like I am barely on pace. At the same time, if I didn’t think about it, I might run the required miles anyway because all I have to do is run slightly less than average than I usually do in a month, but after last weekend's runs and feeling sick, I started thinking about it more. I would love to take more time off and not run a lot, but in order to do that, I have to be at least on pace for this goal, and I don’t know how much time I will have over the weekend, so as long as I get between 20 and 25 miles complete during the week and the same over the weekend, I should be good. At the same time, I don’t want to hurt myself, and I want to have fun, so maybe I will try to do more on some days so that I can take it easy on the last few days of the year. Hanukkah last night was more of the same. Everyone got vegan Reese's and a chocolate coin last night. And I gave my daughter a new copy of the Junie B. Jones books that she has been loving recently. I bought her enough to give a new one every day of Hanukkah.
