Day 4,253—Whiplash from the Cold—

Yesterday it was in the 50s. Today it was below freezing. I didn’t want to go outside at all. It took so much effort to get dressed in my warm clothes. I put on my big gloves and my heavy coat so I wasn’t cold when I left my house. I passed the Starbucks, and I made a mental note to look up when it is supposed to be open because I am running past it at 4:45 a.m., and it doesn’t look close to being opened, and I am just thinking that this is a coffee shop. How is it not open early in the morning? When I went back by it when I came home after 5, it still didn’t look open, and there was no smell of coffee.

I went in there once last week. There were two people working, and even though there wasn’t a line, they seemed overwhelmed, so after waiting a few minutes, I walked out. I guess Starbucks is basically a McDonald's now. It is not like it used to be when I was growing up. They used to be a hip place where adults worked that sold cool music, and they would have it playing on a display with the CDs. Can you even buy CDs at stores anymore? All I can think is that it is new, so I will give it some time for the workers there to figure it out. I just wanted to see what my favorite cup of coffee would taste like there.

I am looking forward to the break and the start of Hanukkah next week, but I am also feeling overwhelmed by all the things that aren’t done yet and all that I will have to do next week and tomorrow.
