Day 4,259—a Flamingo Holiday—

69.2 miles to go for the year! I seem to understand how close we are to the end of the calendar year better when I put it in miles as opposed to focusing on days or another metric. Yesterday was the third night of Hanukkah, and my son was so cute when I picked him up today. He told me, “I really like Hanukkah.” And then he told me because he liked chocolate. We have been trying to play the game, but so far, each night turns into him taking the coins and running out of the room. Last night I gave them both some chocolate before we started, but it wasn’t enough. I am just thinking you have gone from zero amounts of chocolate to two pieces a night, and that is still somehow not enough?

My daughter bought everyone holiday presents at school last week, and she was so excited to give them to us. It was funny because she asked her teacher if she was allowed to give them as Hanukkah gifts, for which her teacher gave her an emphatic yes. She gave me a yellow fidget spinner that she immediately wanted to play with when I opened it up. She gave my wife a necklace that said I love you and her little brother a bathtub toy.

I was distracted this run looking at my heart rate because it started at something like 170, which was so wrong, but the sensor in general could not get it together. I took the watch off for a while, and it still registered a 160, so I put it over my shirt, and it was still high. I have noticed it being higher recently, but this is the worst I have ever seen it.

I left at around 4:33, so I don’t know how I managed to complete a 45-minute run and return around 5:30. However, this has been more common recently, so maybe I will try to pay attention more tomorrow morning. I still can't believe it is Wednesday! Only three more days of school, and today I got a holiday luncheon to look forward to. I saw this flamingo-themed decoration on my way home and thought it was adorable. Not that I use that word lightly or frequently, but I couldn’t think of something else that matched it better.
