Day 4,514—My Shoes are Tight and I Hurt my Hip, but I Still ran a Marathon—

Start time: 6:41 a.m.
Weather: Low 60s-Low 80s wind .9  mi/h, Humidity 90%

Sometimes it hurts more to catch yourself than to take the fall. I did that a few times today because I was going faster than last week and enjoying the run. Around 6 miles, I tripped but instinctively caught myself with my right leg, but landed so that my whole right leg was instantly in pain. I didn’t scream, but I yelled in frustration and to release the pain after trying to continue.

After the intense wave of pain wore off, I started thinking that maybe I would be okay, but it hurt when I was bending my leg, so it was hard to move normally. I was tempted to call it an early, but I figured it might be easier to keep going if I showed myself I could run through the pain; the sacrifice is that I'm moving much slower. I was wearing a brand new pair of Speed Goats a half size bigger because my last pair was barely not fitting, so I figured a half size would be plenty, but they feel identical in size, so frustrating! My right foot kept taking a pounding as it attempted to adapt to the new stride. A bath and some acupuncture should set me right.
